Whenever I come to a passage of Scripture that clearly and powerfully spells out God’s sovereignty over all creation, I usually find myself in tears and with chills covering my body. It is at those times I can vividly feel the Spirit prodding my heart, whispering “Believe. It’s true.” And those times are special and come always at just the right moment.

Psalm 104 is one of those Psalms I have read over and over and it continually gives me butterflies. I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is about this Psalm, other than it brings me immense comfort. Comfort in the solid fact that God holds everything- from the mountains, to the springs, to the trees, to the lions and beasts, to man- in his strong, pierced hand. He controls every movement, every motion, every silence. He controls every birth, every death, every salvation, every damnation. Every second of life is dictated, orchestrated, and carefully purposed by the Lord, the Majestic Glory. What comfort this brings to those who trust in him! Not a single thing will happen to me apart from the knowledge, predestination, and care of my Father. I am so grateful that I do not have to fear, for he has it all under control!

“These all look to you, to give them their food in due season. When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things. When you hide your face, they are dismayed; when you take away their breath, they die and return to their dust. When you send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.” Psalm 104:27-30
